Satyameva Jayate

Truth Alone Triumphs is a mantra from the ancient Indian scripture Mundaka Upanishad. On the independence of India, it was adopted as its national motto. It is inscribed in Devanagari script at the base of the national emblem. The emblem and words 'Satyameva Jayate' are also inscribed on one side of all Indian currency. The emblem is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Asoka which was erected around 250 BC at Sarnath, near Varanasi in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The full mantra is as follows:

Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.
Through truth the divine path is spread out by which
the sages whose desires have been completely fulfilled,
reach where that supreme treasure of Truth resides.

From our experience, we felt that Satyameva Jayate has to be emphasized at this time. We wish to share these thoughts on Truth by The Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It is our wish to make as many people as possible, aware of these thoughts and to help them to put it into practice.

Nobody knows the exact truth of things here and each one speaks as if he knows but, in fact, nobody knows.
There is nothing in the world which has not its ultimate truth and support in the Divine.
There is nothing, that does not carry in itself all eternal truth.
Truth would still be Truth if it had not even a single follower.
Truth is above conflict and opposition.
Truth is the point where all the opposites meet and join to make a unity.
Truth is Supreme harmony and Supreme delight.
All disorder, all suffering is a falsehood.
Truth is wonderful.
It is in our perception that it is distorted.
The truth is not always what we think it to be and the ways of the Divine are innumerable.
What is truth?
The will of the Supreme.

For most people, it is what they want that they label the truth.
He who wants sincerely to serve the truth will know the truth.
To be able to know the truth, you must be without preferences and without desires.
When you aspire for the truth your mind must be silent.
Love the truth.
Be more eager for the truth than for success.
All that brings with it or creates peace, faith, joy, harmony, wideness, unity and ascending growth comes from the Truth.
Truth cannot be formulated in words, but it can be lived provided one is pure and plastic enough.
It is only in experience that there can be knowledge of the truth.
The truth is in us, we have only to become aware of it.

Truth is as indispensable for the smallest things as for the highest. The Universe is ever moving and what was formerly perfectly true is only partially so today. There is no greater courage than to be always truthful. Truth in speech demands truth in acts too. The Divine is always doing, the very best for the truth. The Divine is with those who love the truth and His Power helps them to conquer. The truth is sure to prevail in spite of all opposition. Nothing, not even the darkest falsehood can stop the ultimate triumph of truth. Truth is sure to conquer one day. And the Grace is always there unfailing. Let us serve the truth.

The truth is present upon earth and dwells wherever there is a receptivity or a consciousness ready to manifest it. Truth does not depend on any exterior form, and will manifest in spite of all bad will and opposition. When men will be disgusted with the falsehood in which they live, then the world will be ready for the reign of truth. The moment approaches when the truth will govern the world. Be committed to the Divine Truth and it will govern life outside all laws and all human governments. Those who serve the truth cannot take one side or other.

Cling to truth
